Description

Zanjan is located in the northwest of Zanjan province in a mountainous area with a height of 1663 m above the sea level. Zanjan is the biggest and most significant city in Zanjan province and also one valuable city, according to its position on the Iran–Europe transitway and being a connecting point among central parts, the west, and northwest of Iran. Soltaniyeh, a great and glorious building in this city, is one of the Iranian biggest and the most famous Islamic buildings registered on the UNESCO global heritage list.

Handicrafts such as knife making, Glim barfi, Jajim barfi, Charogh do, pottery, filigree, carpet weaving, metalworking, coppersmith, silversmith, local music and theater, custom, other cultural and artistic properties as well as natural attractions like spa springs, and Zanjan historical buildings are highly significant agents in the economy of this city. Zanjan people speak in Turki (Azerbaijani) with the Zanjani dialect and they are Shia followers.
