Iran Lakes

Beside the world’s largest lake – the Caspian Sea – there are many other lakes in Iran. Urmia Lake (in Persian: Daryacheh-ye Orumiyeh) in west Azerbaijan province is the largest lake in Iran, it has a surface area of almost 5,200 km2 and has 102 islands. Among other lakes of Iran, Lar and Ahang in Tehran province, Lake Hamun in Sistan Va Baluchistan province, Parishan and Maharlu lake in Fars province, Zarivar lake in Kurdistan province, Ovan lake in Qazvin province are prominent.
