Born in Jerusalem, Daniel is a hero for Jews. According to religious books, when Daniel was young, he was captivated by the Babylonian king Nebuchadnezzar. When Cyrus of Persia defeated Babylonian, Daniel immigrated to Susa. He died in the age of 83 in Susa and his corpse was buried beside the Shahur River. A flood destroyed his tomb in 1870 CE though it was renovated again. The mausoleum includes a 20 by 5 meters (height and width respectively) double-shed ourchin dome resembling the ancient design of Chogha Zanbil. Two ten-meter minarets and Islamic-style tile-works are other features of the mausoleum.
