Shazdeh Garden ; Mahan

Made during Qajar era, the garden is expanded over an area of 55 thousand square meter, featuring the characteristics of a Persian Garden, the most common of which are: water channels, surrounding walls, shading trees, pool, and pavilion. The garden is divided into eastern and western complex and the beauty of its portal entrance, as well as pavilion distinguishes it from other gardens. Another significant feature of this garden is its fountain which is seldom seen in a Persian garden, and if seen are not this exquisite. Shazdeh is the biggest and most beautiful garden of Iran, its layered architecture makes the garden seem bigger than what it is. The garden was made during the ruling of two governors, there are some empty spaces on the portal that are not filled with tiles; there is a common belief that the architect of the building on hearing governor’s death has filled the wall with stucco and fled, hence the empty spaces were created. The garden is located in a desert like area and the contrast of the dry and barren outside and the verdure of inside is like a miracle happening at the heart of desert.
