Eram is one of the nine Persian gardens that has been registered as World Heritage by UNESCO. A Persian garden is a style of garden making and arranging that consists of three main characteristics: 1) it has water channels all through the garden 2) it is confined by massive walls and 3) there is a building or pavilion inside the garden. Eram has all three characteristics mentioned. Although we’re not certain when this garden was made, we can trace it back to the Seljuk era. Later in Zand and Qajar's reign, this garden was expanded. When Nasser al-Din Shah came to the throne he ordered a new building (pavilion) to be added to the garden. The pavilion, as it’s the tradition of the Persian garden, it the central piece of garden and is a mixture of Zand and Qajar architecture. It is built on three floors and the magnificent tile work and paintings add to the beauty of the garden.
