Ancient Architecture Vakil Bazaar
Near Other sites remained from the Zand dynasty, Vakil mosque, Vakil Bath and Karim Khan’s citadel, this Bazar is one of the few remaining traditional bazaars of Iran. it was made by the order of Karim Khan imitating Lar’s Bazar. This Bazar was the main trading center of shiraz and some warehouses and rooms acted as safe boxes for tradesmen. The whole place is made of Lime, Plaster, and Brick over blocks of carved stone and the passages are wider than most Bazars.
Each route in the Bazar has three main parts: the passage, shops and shop’s iwan; 5 large entrance gates surround the Bazar. Two main routes cross each other in a way that 4 “Soogh” or subsections are created. At the joint part where the two routes cross each other a “Hashti” (octagon) is created with beautiful brick and tile works. Shops in this area are two-storied and the roof is higher than the rest of Bazar.
