Before the Safavid era, the pond located in this place was the water storage of the eastern part of Tabriz. During the Safavid era, however, the surrounding area was cleaned and stone walls were made around it, the pond was used as the pool and hence the name Shah Gölü or Kings Pool came to being. This area was turned into a garden by Qajar’s kings and shading trees and flowers were planted. During the Pahlavi era, the garden was given to the City Hall to be turned into a public park. Therefore, the previous small, damaged building was demolished and a new construct was built in its place, streets were made around the pond and the building and new trees were planted. Today this beautiful garden is one of the most popular places in Tabriz.
