The Narenjestan or the Orange Garden
A complex from Qajar’s era known for the natural and historical beauty that it offers to the visitor. Haj Ibrahim Kalantar, the person that betrayed the last Zand king and helped Mohammad to build the Qajar’s dynasty was killed by Mohammad’s son (aka Fath-Ali Shah); later the sole survival of Ibrahim’s family calls upon the king and asks to be amended for the loss of his family. The king that felt guilty over his rash decision gives him some lands in Shiraz, appoint him as the governor and name him Qavam-Ol Saltaneh meaning the strength of Qajar’s Reign. Qavam-Ol Saltaneh made many changes in Shiraz, he also turned his residence into a complex that consisted of Public and Private Bath, Hosseinieh (a place dedicated to Imam Hossein and rites happening in his name), School, Government Office, Harem, and Stable. The beautiful garden of the house is filled with sour oranges, the mesmerizing smell of the blossoms in the early months of spring made people refer to the whole complex as Narenjestan or the Orange Garden.
